Purpose of the Job:
The core purpose is to perform various laboring activities that directly support logistical requirements. This includes preparing equipment, loading and unloading both products and chemicals, and maintaining a consistently high level of housekeeping throughout the designated area.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Safety: Correctly identify and use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), participate in emergency preparedness exercises, perform routine inspections on safety equipment, conduct BAPP observations, adhere strictly to all safety and work standards, conduct IMS inspections to ensure compliance.
- Housekeeping: Clean plant areas, workbenches, floors, PPE, and glassware following direct instructions and established cleaning routines, pack materials neatly in designated storage areas, safely handle, stack, and store chemicals and gas cylinders according to protocols, load and off-load vehicles, maintain neatness, perform all tasks under direct supervision.
- General Support: Assist dedicated personnel with discipline-specific tasks, deliver messages and parcels within the facility, work overtime as needed, safely use hand tools and equipment, handle process chemicals and glassware, perform ad hoc tasks as requested.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- Grade 12 (Matric) with passing grades in Mathematics and Science
- Valid Code EC1 (Code 14) driving license (mandatory)
- Forklift driving license considered an advantage
- Minimum one year of relevant experience in a similar role
- Effective communication, planning, multi-tasking, attention to detail, accountability, and knowledge of safety, health, and environmental policies
