The Uthukela District Municipality invites unemployed individuals residing within the district to apply for the Extended Public Works Programme (EPWP). This 12-month programme aims to:

Position Title: EPWP Maintenance Programme (X96 Posts)
This programme falls under the Uthukela District’s adopted EPWP policy and includes the following three key projects:

Minimum Requirements
- Must be unemployed
- Minimum qualification: Grade 10
- Must reside within the Uthukela District Municipality
- Must not be receiving an old age grant
- Must have a valid South African ID
- Willing to work in varied and pressured environments
- Must be registered on the Uthukela District Municipality Job Portal
Added Advantages
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent
- TVET certifications in:
- Plumbing
- Pipefitting
- Wastewater Treatment
- Environmental Science
- Water Technology
- Prior experience in:
- Plumbing
- Water distribution
- Sewerage system maintenance
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Must be physically fit (lifting, prolonged standing, working outdoors)
- Ability to work in confined spaces (e.g., underground or sewer systems)
Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will:
- Perform general maintenance duties in municipal areas
- Contribute to water service delivery, environmental, and health projects
- Participate in all projects identified by the municipality for the duration of the contract
